L'ambiance est assez énergique. Il y a beaucoup de vas et viens car c'est tout le temps plein. Le seul bémol est le prix, mais la qualité des ingrédients est excellente donc ça le vaut pleinement. ”

It was a busy spot, but the kind servers were able to quickly get orders and bring them out too. I got the La Savoyarde & my finance got the La Couvre-Feu. I think I liked mine more and didn't really care for the Mac and cheese bites in the La Couvre-Feu. I would definitely want to go back and try more flavors! ”

“ This has got to be one of the most shocking experiences I've ever had with a food establishment, in a great way! I've never seen people order straight up fries and eat it as a meal before I came to La Banquise. Of course you can argue that it's not fries but it's poutine, but either way, it was still fairly surprising to me. I waited for my friends to come and they allowed me to stand in line so I wouldn't skip my place which such a great concept. I like that there's still this first come first serve attitude even as you're waiting for others to arrive. I ordered the La Rachel, and first of all, the portion sizes are humongous. I'm unsure how one could finish the whole plate by themselves. And second, I'm glad I ordered one with vegetables as I could see it getting dense. The fries were surprisingly good and crispy, it was able to soak up all the rich gravy. I was pretty surprised by this as I had originally believed that the fries would go stale quickly as too many items would sit on top of it. I didn't care much for the cheese curds; they tasted like mozarella string cheese. I think La Banquise is a once in a blue moon place to go but definitely recommend if you're looking to be more adventurous with poutine. ”

“ Fries, cheese curds, gravy...and more! We had to come to taste for ourselves and it did not disappoint. Since we had a smoked meat sandwich earlier in the day, hubby and I decided to share the La Rachel which has green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Even though the dish looks a bit messy, it was a great combo and you can still taste the goodness of the bouncy cheese curds with gravy. Wish we had room to try more. Our friends shared the La T-Rex which has ground beef, pepperoni, bacon and hot dogs. Overall the meat in Montreal is a little too salty for my taste so I'm glad we stick to the non meat version. Service was quick and friendly and we were seated right away since we came around 4pm. Definitely come visit in Montreal. ”

“ There is a reason this is the go to place for poutine The gravy was not too overbearing, the curds were perfectly cooked and not chewy. We loved the la reggae over the original just because of the added texture, the guacamole and bell peppers gave the dish. Easily a small dish could feed one - two people. Salad was standard. Would highly recommend ”

“ Poutine done in many awesome unique ways is exactly what can be found here as this was just what hit the spot on the given day! So one thing I've learned about Montréal is to look into things before as I don't know French so I was stoked when I found their website and I was able to decide what I wanted on there as it's in both English and French! So I totally went with the Scooby Doo as it had all kinds of of random goodies on it with a pile of fries and gravy to go with it as those fried pickles chopped grilled onions bacon and that awesome meat on it made for one of the best poutine I've ever had and I just went with the small one and it was huge! So parking is what it is I found a spot on the street so that was definitely a plus as you never know what to expect from that so I had to pay the kiosk for my parking time! Overall I could go here a ton of times and get something uniquely delicious each time as they have sooo many spins on what's totally scrumptious from each and every poutine way! They do Togo orders so that's what I went with as it was just easier but the inside looked awesome hopefully I make it back here again at some point because it would be an even better experience inside I can totally tell! Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit as it's super yummy and quite filling! ”

“ Visited Montreal and stopped here before heading to the airport. Came around 11:30-11:45am on a Sunday for two people and there was no wait and plenty of open tables. There are a handful of tables outside in the back of the restaurant. Service is good and food comes out extremely fast. You can easily be in and out of this place in 45 minutes. I'm not a poutine expert so can't speak to the authenticity, but I enjoyed this. It's fun because they have a lot of different toppings and varieties I've never seen anywhere else. I ordered: -La Classique: standard, but felt I needed to try. Salty, savory, drenched in gravy. Hard to go wrong. -La Sud-Ouest: has guacamole, bacon, onion rings, and a few other things. We asked the waitress what the most popular one is (besides the classic) and she recommended this. It was actually quite good! Never thought guacamole and fries would be good together. I just wish there was more bacon in it. If I only had to choose one, I would go with this over the Classic (it's more unique & was more satisfying). ”

“ Can't leave Montreal without trying poutine and La Banquise is known for unique poutine creations so we had to stop in and try. Purists might say some of them are abominations but to each their own! The regular portions are enough to share and the large portion is good for a whole table to munch on. My mom and I definitely made the mistake of getting a large and it was way too much for us to share. It was delicious though! We got the La Parnoramix with smoked meat, mushrooms, no sour cream, add onions and spicy sausage. You can do a premixed creation or build your own. Each poutine dish is also customizable. Our dish was loaded with meat and the smoked meat was tender and juicy. The sausage was on the spicy side for me. Everything all together was a bit on the heavy flavor side for us, too salty and definitely too rich to finish the whole plate. Great experience though! High recommend for your poutine experience. ”
